An Update on Our Sponsored Momma

The woman holding the little boy in her arms is the Mom in Ethiopia we sponsor through Because Every Mother Matters. 

What you see in front of her is her business.

She has a "big" business selling coffee (my fave!), barley, corn, chickpeas, vegetables and eggs from the three chickens she recently purchased.

If you remember, she started her business with just a half-month's worth of sponsorship money before we agreed to sponsor her.

Her motivation and drive attracted me to her and her dreams--I wanted to stand in the gap. I think that's how things work best. I can't fix everything, but I can fix one thing. And, nearly 100 moms are no being sponsored by people who think that making a difference for one is better than not even trying because you can't fix it all.

In My Heart, I'm a Regular Blogger

Someday, I'm convinced I will be able to blog it just by thinking it. Until then, I suppose I have to put blogging on my calendar or it won't happen. I don't like to relegate my creative outlet to the drudgery of a "to-do task", but if I don't I do something crazy like go three weeks without posting.

It isn't like there is a ton of uber interesting things going on, but I can take a stab at bringing the blog current & maybe even ranting on some things that are kind of bothering me.

Care Package Goddess

I have learned a great deal being a military wife. One of my most coveted and admired of the acquired skills? My ability to cram an inordinate amount of stuff into the teeniest of containers. I am competitive by nature, so when the USPS drops the phrase, "If it fits, it ships", I take it as a waving red flag. I remember taking several care packages to the USPS counter and receiving the "What in God's name is in here, woman?!" look as the clerk hefted the box onto the scale. Whether it was being sent to my husband, a friend's husband or a service member we'd adopted, but had never met, I packed it TIGHTLY.

Next week, my care package for a completely different purpose will be headed to Ethiopia. Much different than others we've sent there, but as significant in my heart as any we've every packed.
