I have sat here with my computer in my lap for nearly a half an hour because I didn't have a title for this post. Still don't really, but I'm very tired now and need to blog before I nod off this evening!
I spoke with the doctor from the international adoption clinic and she seemed very positive about M3 and her file. She told me that even with the measurements being a year old, she could tell that at least M3 was on our American development charts for her age even hitting 50% depending upon what her true age is. This is a relief as you always wonder about measurements, especially that of head circumference. She told us how beautiful she thinks M3 is and I have to agree. I cannot wait to be able to show you her photos and the video that has me transfixed. For some of you, that will happen as soon as this weekend! For others, it will have to wait until she is officially ours. I promise you, it will be worth the wait!
M1 remained home with me again today. After three doses of her antibiotic, her throat has stopped hurting. She hasn't run a fever since yesterday. We were also able to pick up her homework so she won't return to school behind when Tuesday dawns.
M2 was worn out when we picked her up today. Once we'd left school, she told me that for the past few days at recess and at after school, she has been mowed over, repeatedly, by some kindergarten boy. She said he sneaks up on her and plows her over--tackling her to the ground. She told me that she had told the playground monitor, but because she doesn't know the boy, she couldn't find him in the hordes of kids running around acting like crazies. She also told me that because the boy was in kindergarten she didn't feel like she could do anything to him.
Sometimes M2 amazes me. She has no problem throttling her sister, but shies away from clobbering some punk kindergartener who cannot keep his hands to himself. I told her in no uncertain terms that this child is NOT to put his hands on her again. Period. If he does, she has my permission to clock him and good. "But what if I have to sit out at recess or I get sent to the principal's office?" I told her that I would tell the after school teachers and write her teacher a note regarding what has been going on and that I will not have her hurt anymore without defending herself. I'm so glad they think it's okay to create an atmosphere where everyone is supposed to use their words such that when one little creep doesn't, no one puts him on his ass immediately and teaches him not to mess with others. Super if you can enforce it, which you can't, because no one pays good attention and usually backs are turned when kids wild out like that. M1 is on the case as well--"I'll figure out who it is, Mom."
I slugged my fair share of boys in elementary school. Funny how boys don't like to have their seats handed to them by girls and they usually back off considerably once it happens to one of their kind. I don't imagine that as the parent of a boy I'd allow him to run around willy nilly tackling little girls and knocking their heads on the ground. No. I can't say that would fly with me. I'm getting mad thinking about it as I type this.
I took the girls to our minor league ball park tonight to use our last tickets in our season ticket package. They talked about Daddy a lot. How Daddy puts M2 on his shoulders rather than making her walk from the parking lot. How Daddy can carry all our food and drinks without spilling anything. How Daddy laughs at the funny things on the scoreboard, hates when people try to fancy up the Star Spangled Banner and mangle it, and how Daddy will crack peanuts for M2. They will definitely be glad to have Daddy back for next season!
M1 thanked me three or four times for taking them because it was so fun. I'm not sure why it was so fun tonight, but it was. They didn't bicker. No one was agitated with anyone. We had fun and it was a nice way to kick off the last weekend of summer.
I'm ready to go to bed now. M2 was excited because she can "sleep in" tomorrow. I'm betting she's up by 8 a.m. no doubt!
