Okay. First things first.
I have NOT grown an extra appendage nor have I shaved 10 years off my age.
And the luncheon, it appears, may not necessarily be the closest I am again in my life to the managing partner in that extremely respected, venerable local law firm.
I received an e-mail from the Career Services Office today that
(wait for it)
I have been selected for an on-campus interview with that very firm!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Keep in mind -- I am not within the magic percentile grade-wise. (Although I felt much better about my previous rejections from the two mega-firms as I learned later plenty of people who met ALL the requirements did NOT receive offers to interview either).
I realize an interview is nowhere near the same as a job offer, but for me, it's pretty darn cool. It quiets those nagging voices that keep telling me at my age I was crazy to go to law school because even if I wanted to, I couldn't get an interview with a firm with name recognition and positive reputation.
I'm telling that inner voice to STIFLE IT immediately and to cease and desist until after next Friday.
You should find your knee pads (plenty of praying to do between now and next Friday) and prepare to go down the road of pre-interview jitters with me.
Have to read for one of my 2 classes tomorrow, so off I go!
You will do just fine. I will keep you in my thoughts anyway, but you have it in you to do great.

Congrats! I remember that feeling too. I did on campus interviewing too and did not meet the criteria of THE firm I wanted to join. I applied anyway, got the interview, got the summer associateship, and the job. Don't let "the criteria" stand in the way of letting you really go for what you want. Good luck, best wishes, and prayers said.

Outstanding! Congratulations. I know you will do well. Can't wait to read about how it went!

I have a few days to figure out how to answer the invariable question this litigation firm will ask, "I see you won the Moot Court competition...how do you like being on Moot Court." Which, for those of you keeping score, I'm NOT on...I'm the only person to ever win the award and not be. I REFUSE to be screwed again over that whole nightmare!
