I've been trudging around the kitchen at all hours like the little moustached baker in the old Dunkin' Donuts commercials..."Time to make the cookies", I find myself muttering. But, that's OKAY. I have been receiving all kinds of encouragment.
My biggest news is that the soldier I've had as an adoptee longest, JG, has notified me that if I send cookies now, he'd be long gone before they arrived. I cannot tell you how happy I was to read that e-mail. My very first adopted soldier ever, Justin, sought out a replacement for himself when he headed home from Iraq. He bumped into and befriended, JG, who rotated in behind him and passed along his contact information to me. That was nearly a year ago. I will miss JG, of course, but I am anxious for him to come home, start school, marry his girl and live happily ever after. And, I have the BEST wedding gift for these two; just have to wiggle information from the groom-to-be so I can get it where it needs to be in time. You know how men are...if JG were a female soldier, I'd probably know all the details down to the candleabra and music selection. As it is, I know there is a wedding upcoming, where it will be and that his bride is lovely. :)
I'm officially half way done with that ginormous cookie shipment I told you about previously. JW3 is anxiously awaiting them and it's my goal to have them out by week's end. It will take some cooperation from the rest of the household, but we'll make it happen!
I wonder how much weight you can lose from making cookies, but not actually eating them? I certainly feel like I've been working out (aching back, sore arms, touchy calves), but the fact is I NEED to work out so that making cookies isn't seen by my upholstered body as "exercise." So, it's up to me to finish the cookies and then go to the Y.
oh, sweety! I just had an email from JW3 (sent him the info on Tommy's funeral) and they will be so happy to get them!! I'm sending decorations, candy & CEEGARSSS for Our Guys... and cookies and cakes, too!

OMg we must be on the same wavelenght... last weekend, I baked (almost) 18 dozen cookies for the platoon of one of my "soldier babies," LOL. 12 straight hours plus of baking, LOL! I soooo sympathize! :-) IT took DAYS for my feet/legs/back to uncramp, LOL
But ya know what? I'd do it again in a heartbeat... it will be SO worth it when they get those cookies and the christmas cards and the candy canes! (I baked a dozen for each guy, put the dozen cookies in a cookie tin... wrote out a christmas card for each guy, taped that to the lid...with a candy cane. :)) Yep... it's WORTH IT. :)
