We already know tomorrow will be a snow day too. We usually have a rocky start to snow days (everyone up entirely too early, looking to get into trouble, making too much noise, etc.) and some ripples in the afternoon (people of the small variety could really use a nap, but refuse to lie down and take one).
I'm going to try and stave off the morning issues with a real breakfast worth sitting down and eating in the morning. M2 knows there is bacon in the freezer so I'm sure the entire house will reek of that because she will want it as a side to her pancakes or eggs.
The girls were lying around watching movies today, but they also worked on some art projects. M2 started on hers first and then M1 decided she would draw something as well. I wasn't allowed to see until they were done which meant pretty much staying out of the living room for awhile.
This is M1's finished drawing.
It's a little crinkled on the bottom from not quite fitting in the scanner.
M1 is the blond in blue on the far left, M2 is the redhead in the middle in purple and M3 is on the right wearing pink.
So sweet.
And, very pastel and pretty just like M1 imagines the world, I suppose.
She was very proud of herself.
M2 has been doing lots of artwork, per usual. She thinks I am a great artist. I love her for not noticing that it is soooo not true. I'm kind of okay at copying things from something, but drawing from scratch isn't always my thing. We worked on a penguin poster last night which she finished coloring this morning while she was in her room after performing her Veruca Salt impression in the living room. It turned out great.
She pulled out her markers this afternoon while watching The Incredibles for the hundredth time. I was not allowed to see what she was working on, but when was finished she wanted me to look at her work right away and can you blame her?
Unlike her sister's pastel take on things, M2 is all about in loud and living color.
M1 is the teeny little person on the left wearing a blue t-shirt.
M2 is in the middle in a purple shirt.
M3 is just a tad bit taller wearing a hot pink shirt.
I'm not sure if the girls even knew they had given themselves the same color clothes in both their drawings, but maybe not? I remember M2 asking M1 what her favorite color was if it couldn't be pink or purple. I also heard her explaining to M1 when she first showed her this drawing, "I'm sorry you are so short. That is not on purpose. I don't know why I made you so short."
I think it's one of those kid things where they draw important things bigger. Moms are usually gigantic in their drawings and siblings or even Dad can take a second fiddle, smaller (literally) role. I think it's great that although M2 is 'bigger', M3 is taller. It's a nice balance.
I can't wait for M3 to see her sister's artwork.
I received an e-mail today that the director of the NGO that funds M3's orphanage is headed to Ethiopia next week and she is happy to take something to her for us. Will DEFINITELY need to get this snow out of the road so I can go find some things. Ideas for this care package are welcome and I'd love to see your ideas in comments.
So excited!

Would she be able to use a disposible camera for her last few weeks(?) at the orphanage? She could take pictures of her friends and the places she sees everyday. That way she has something from her before America life.

That's a good idea, especially if I can find an easy one without too many steps b/4 you take the photo. She is basically the same age as M2 and M2 is used to gadgets, buttons, etc. and still needs a reminder on those cameras. LOL But, if someone can show her how it works, I bet she'd go gangbusters with it.

Actually, M1 is not a lot shorter that the rest, as Papaw pointed out...she's down over the hill and further back than the other two. Makes sense to me...3 dimensional you know.
