Talk about a turn around!
I spoke with the professor who is teaching the tort litigation capstone after he had decided to request the registrar open the course to non-litigation track students given the "interest" he'd been hearing about from general track students (um, me). He said he thought I'd do just fine and, in fact, may want to consider the need to take the civil trial practice course since most everything we'd cover in there we will cover in the capstone anyway.
I visited with my friend in the registrar's office and we went over my schedule. Once we ran the numbers, it became apparent that I don't even need to take an elective to graduate, so I AM NOT TAKING ONE. Hee-hee. After three semesters of 18 credit hours, a summer of six and a fall of 17, I will be taking FOURTEEN measly credit hours next semester. Hot diggity dog!
Many of my blogging friends are in Vegas right now for the Blog Expo being held there. After being unemployed for over a year, I'm in no position to be going to Vegas! Although I did appreciate the invite to attend and to be on a panel and all. Thanks! I will, however, draw your attention to a story I should have linked to ages ago brought to my attention by Army Wife Toddler Mom (who is, by the way, in VEGAS).
It appears Nickelodeon has been trying to slip one past us in the form of "news" for children. It's probably best to watch the video on an empty stomach as no one like to feel nauseated while leaning over their very expensive computer keyboard. Seriously sickening propaganda couched within the format of a 'news segment.' Gimme a break. As if the over-commecialized, cross-promoting free for all at Nick isn't enough, now they want your kids to be "Rebels with a Cause" and encourage them to adopt the notion that our men and women in uniform are mercenary killers bent on torturing people. Oh, and don't forget the incessant "Impeach Bush" mantra. Puh-leeze. Could we beat a dead horse any harder?! AWTM and I encourage you to drop Nick a line and their parent company, Viacom, could use a head's up too. No need to be rude because relating the truth, in even the most measured way, should be blatantly disturbing enough. And, while you're at it, Hasbro may want to have a look given the advertising decisions they need to make and the way Nick really feels about their product. Ellerbee's touting of the organization The World Can't Wait is astounding--not that she'd do it (typical), but that a children's network would let her get away with it. The comment section on AWTM's site is replete with the convenient "kids exercising their First Amendment rights" loveliness that NEVER receives the same attention from the Left when kids on the Right are engaged in things like showing support for the troops or wanting to wear a t-shirt with a flag on it to school...or, I don't know, say "God" out loud without following it up with damn. I went ahead and commented. Can't wait for the trolls to come over and start leaving their piles of crap around my comment block. (/sarcasm)
