Perhaps it's because in addition to my daily dose of caffeine via Tim Horton's, I accepted a free peppermint mocha latte from a friend at Starbucks today. Whatever the reason (caffeine, finals, crazy schedule, etc.) I feel ready to vacate my skin at any moment. Wouldn't that make class more interesting?
M2's school has been closed the past two days because of heating problems. Luckily, M1's summer babysitter has some openings so I was able to find a spot for M2 without much worry. I would seriously hope M2's school pro-rates this week thanks to their little snafu. We are squeaking by and having to pay double duty for childcare this week isn't helping.
I've not done myself any favors in the job department either. I took a look at the writing sample I've been using and was surprised to find that things look much different now than when I first began using it. Namely, the citations were in bad need of editing...why I didn't notice this before, I can't say. Probably because when this became my sanctioned writing sample I was a new legal writer and naive. Plus, my legal writing teacher supposedly gave it a fine-toothed editing and made all the appropriate suggestions and changes. In other words, I trusted her and it is likely to my detriment. I've made the necessary corrections and even went so far as to resubmit it to an employer who is currently considering me--it was one of two samples and it doesn't appear to have been a big issue. I'd rather have them think I submitted a draft and realized an error (lapse in diligence) rather than that I am an ignoramous 24/7 (unemployable). Yeah. It's been a banner day.
Where are the job fairies anyway?!
The four-day weekend has me discombobulated. I'm trying to do school work, prepare for M1's 9th b-day on Thursday, and become travel ready for SpouseBuzz Live 3 this weekend. We're not planning anything too outlandish for M1's b-day, but a girl needs a present, her favorite dinner and a cake--none of which I am currently possessing. Plus, treats for her class Thursday...and reservations at her gymnastics place for her friend party sometime in December. Thanks to everything Brown is doing for you, I have zero help in the prep department from now until after New Year's. Next week marks the end of the semester, so you can see I'm on a fast train to Freak Out Town. My evening this evening is completely filled by the Inn of Court meeting...can't wait to go home and squeeze myself into a suit. Maybe I'll have a glass of wine and approach a partner from the big litigation firm that has YET to reject me formally. What's the hold up?!
I'll update with something less frenetic later. This is the best I can do at the moment. I have issues.
