Andi brings a powerful message into the blogosphere and institutes a Blog Swarm for a hero!
Army Sgt. Neil Duncan survived an IED attack on his Humvee in Afghanistan in December 2005. The photo depicts what was left of the SGT's vehicle. He sustained severe injuries including the loss of both his legs. SGT Duncan has been recovering at Walter Reed for over a year now, but will soon be headed home to Minnesota. This after over 20 surgeries, rigorous physical and occupational therapy and dental reconstruction.
When I saw the photo at the top of Andi's blog depicting the SGT in his hospital bed, my heart ached. As I read on and scrolled down, I began to be even more inspired. And, in thinking about the week I've had, I'm a little embarrassed to have been feeling so indignant about being cheated out of a spot on Moot Court. I have bigger fish to fry and so do you, so consider participating in a fund drive to help SGT Duncan reach his goals faster. The objectives of this hero are completely do-able and worthwhile. He wants to secure a house close to a college campus so that he can finish his college education.
I don't know about all of you, but I can't think of a better way to say "Thank you" and "Good Luck" to such a brave guy.
The benefit will be held on April 21 from 2-6:00 at the American Legion Post #172 in Osseo, Minnesota.
