Goodbye, January!
2007 is rolling right along, isn't it? Already one month just hours from closing out and another ready to start its countdown clock. We at Most Certainly Not are busy, busy, BUSY, but not too busy to give you the update on news, school, and home things.
News
Some must read things in the blogosphere include this very poignant post from an active duty guy in Afghanistan that Blackfive has shared.
Michelle Malkin has the latest on a foiled British terror plot.
And, as always, Dave at Thunder Run has a round-up of what caught his attention today.
School
The appellate brief writing class is charging full steam ahead. Our draft of our brief is due next week. Mmmm, yeah. I want to have as much done as I can so the professor can offer me the most insight. I've learned, however, that sometimes wanting and doing are two different things.
People should not be allowed to exist in this miniature environment for hours on end as we are. Eventually, you will either be driven to drink or you will want to strangle someone. Sometimes, you will want to do both and the only quandry left is which to do first.
Reading takes on a whole new meaning in law school.
Applying for jobs at my age is interesting.
Home
Hubs has been busy with Guard things and the evenings have not been as productive as I need them to be. I decided that it is just the reality of life and I'll deal. It isn't like the childless people are getting any more done than I am by and large.
M1 has her school's Open House tonight. She also, supposedly, has a Father-Daughter Dance for her Brownie troop this Saturday. Something I have discovered about her school which drives me insane: they will litter your home with flyers, pamphlets, papers, and newsletters on the SAME topic over and over (the topic of which does NOT concern you or your child in the least) but will send home a head's up paper about an event that is month's away that DOES concern you and you will never hear another word about it. So, on Wednesday, I am left wondering what M1 is to wear to this event and what the schedule is so she can determine exactly which Dad will be able to attend.
M2 is feeling better after an odd fever popping up on Saturday. She's been giddy lately. We have been spending a great deal of time at home since it's too cold to go out and she and M1 have been liking that. We watch movies (Aristocats graced our screen last movie night) on Friday or Saturday nights and they are allowed to tape and watch American Idol. M2's favorite line? "That girl is a weird singer, Mommy." No kidding!
The dogs are still around...unfortunately. Oscar, the elder statesman, is as oblivious to his health condition as ever. I have this odd feeling that one way or the other, his days are numbered. I'm no psychic; he IS going on 14. Annie has been chewing up all kinds of things again. It's to the point that I don't trust her to have the run of the house when we aren't home. I don't want to give her too much credit, but Annie has always been very astute at picking out when someone isn't feeling right. I wonder if being home alone with Oscar all day she has tuned into something going on with his health that hasn't quite become obvious to the humans yet? She will be a basket case when the old man goes. One of us will certainly need therapy.
I've been working on my brief all morning. Class starts in 15 minutes. I'm hoping to have enough on paper tonight to give my teacher something so he knows I'm not a total waste and that I will be a writing fool from now until this class ends in March. If I keep saying that enough, it will happen, right?
