Playing Catch-Up
I neglected to post a note prior to venturing to the Land Before Computers ( aka my rural hometown ) for the Easter holiday. We ate entirely too much and although my blood pressure did a few unhealthy upticks because of the demands on our time made by those on Hubs' side of the family, I did have an overall decent time. I'm looking forward to visiting my family again soon since I only was able to spend four hours with them during the entire weekend. Notice, however, that I resolute that this will NOT be the shape of holidays to come.
At any rate, I'm sure you were waiting with bated breath for an update on the Fran O'Brien's impending eviction. I hope you kept up at Andi's World, because she's been in contact with Hilton management and conducting interviews on the milblogging community's behalf. WTG, Andi! Lots of links there of those blogging about this issue and I'm certainly planning on visiting this staple of DC-culinary history this weekend when I'm in town. Who knows? Maybe someone will let me be an honorary server that night? Can I admit to you that the ONLY job I ever interviewed for, but didn't get, was a waitressing job at Pizza Hut? Maybe this could be my big moment?
Since I'm a bit behind in the analysis of the above story, I mostly find myself nodding my head in agreement with many of the other bloggers rather than creating original thoughts on the matter. I'm especially in agreement with Laughing Wolf's questions that need to be answered and I hope the responses from Hilton's management are honest and forthcoming. I also hope the owners of Fran O'Brien's will be contacted by more available spaces than they can count in DC so they can continue their successful business venture as well as their philanthropic activities with our vets.
Michelle Malkin has been blogging her brains out during the holiday weekend. Go here for the latest on the kooky Santa Cruz "college" students whose enlightened mindset has no room for military recruiters, but plenty for vandalism. As if listening to Cindy Sheehan weren't stomach churning enough, now Jane Fonda is back in the news and says she's not openly protesting the war because of her 'baggage.' Not quite sure what she means...history has shown her to be a traitor to her nation so why pretend to be something she's not? And, violence rocks Tel Aviv when a Palestinian homicide bomber took nearly a dozen lives and injured dozens more.
While you catch up your news knowledge, I'm working on the house and writing letters to soldiers whose addresses have backed up in my e-mail inbox. We're headed out later for school supplies (mine) and some care package items (for soldiers, of course!). Oh! And, while I'm thinking about it...my biggest law school book buying coup so far? A $120 book I purchased on Amazon Marketplace for $19.95!!!! Brand new. So stoked.
Hope you and yours had a blessed Easter and felt alive with the spirit of renewal that Easter and spring can bring.
Cannot wait to meet you This weekend...
looking forward to it!
