Good grief! What a great weekend!!!! The meet-up at Fran O'Brien's was fun last night and then the conference today simply rocked. Many attendees were live blogging during the event and you can catch their roundups on their sites...some special one of interest:
Heidi and Kit from Euphoric Reality--man, do I wish I had another evening or two to spend with these gals. Cute as buttons, but sharp wits and oh, MAN can they make you crack up. The 3rd panel of the day was particularly interesting given the presence of one of my crushes, COL David Hunt, and a truly intense discussion about blogging from the theater. Riveting, really, and I hardly minded my arse had fallen asleep HOURS before...hard, hard chairs.
LaShawn Barber, one
milblogger I wish I could have met in person, but didn't want to interrupt her work!!, knocks it from the park with a very comprehensive live blogging post. (My fingers went faster then my head! I know LaShawn isn't classified as a milblogger and yet, I typed it anyhow! In my book, she should be named an honorary milblogger for her awesome coverage of the conference.)
Lynne, from GunnNutt, was busily live blogging and since I was standing right beside her when she snapped this shot, I thought I'd link to it! I missed out on the Walter Reed counterprotest because by the time I'd concluded my super lovely dinner with some friends, it was pouring down rain and they were packing it in...just another reason to return to DC sooner rather than later!
You'll want to be sure to check out the links to the panelists' sites as there are probably some you aren't familiar with...Andi did an awesome job planning this event and girl, thanks for the mention in the program! You're too sweet!
And, David, from Thunder Run...cutie pie and a great sense of humor. Be sure to give him a read!
It was great to meet so many awesome people whom I admire so much! ArmyWifeToddlerMom...you ARE Emma Peel! Stacy and SSM, you both have rocked and how fun to meet the man behind SSM! I was on the perimeter of conversations involving Capt. Z and his lovely wife, Carren...really should have made it a point to butt in!!! Got up the courage to introduce myself to Matt from B5 and he graciously pretended he knew who I was...what a gentleman. I met HomefrontSix on the way out the door...such a bummer because I think we'd have had tons to talk about! Concrete Bob from Protest Warrior was in the house! A living legend.
Phew! Enough name dropping for the moment! More plus photos from my trip...later.
