Hey, did you hear the one about four peace activists taken hostage by bloodthirsty terrorists in Iraq who were later released by their captors?? (Well, except for the American who was tortured and killed.) If you're reading the mainstream media and the website of the Christian Peacemaker Teams, that's what you might believe. Unfortunately for those who wish you to believe that evil actually has a heart, it never happened. Rather, the two Canadian and one British activists were FREED from their kidnappers by a joint task force of United States and British military.
In the hundreds of words used by the activist organization to respond publicly to the trio's impending homecoming, not one mention was made of the heroic efforts it took to free these men. It seems those who did the freeing are more self-sacrificing and giving than the "Christians".
Michelle Malkin has quite a round-up of links including the one to the CPT website. I felt compelled to send the following e-mail:
This morning, your website reminds us that: Jesus said: "Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you." Matthew 5:44 (NIV)
Other lessons taught by Jesus and recorded in the Bible include things like giving thanks and being honest. Jesus' dying on the cross signified the ultimate sacrifice made for those who hated, sinned and had no respect for God or the laws governing His followers. When looking at the rescue of the trio of activists from your organization, it is clear that the rescuers have acted in a more Christ-like fashion than those who drape themselves in Christianity and use it as an excuse to forgive pure, unadulterated evils acts.
Release would mean the captors had a change of heart and let the men go free. Rescue would mean that the kidnappers had no intention, after four months, of releasing these men and others came in and made the decision for the captors.
Still unclear? When you pray to the Lord to save you from yourself, you ask Him to rescue you from the chains of temptation...not to release you. He isn't holding you there.
It is a despicable act to not give credit where it is due. It says more about your organization than anything else. And, yet again, it demonstrates how organizations that feel the need to put words like "Truth" and "Christian in their names do so because those qualities would be absent from their activities if not for using the label.
If this feels anything like persecution and you feel the need to pray for me now, you can save it. I'd suggest, rather, that you follow the advice my sage great-grandmother once gave me: "Before you take your broom to your neighbor's back step, be sure you own steps are clean first."
Not that it will make a WIT of difference to people so myopic in their worldview and leaning so far Left they are looking at their left ankles on a regular basis, but it made ME feel better. Let me say it for the wives, mothers, fathers, and children of those who RESCUED these moonbats because I'm sure if my husband were on that mission, I could think of several HUNDRED other things I would have deemed more worth his time.
Update: The spokesperson for this group's US office in Chicago appeared on the Neal Boortz program this morning. When he held her feet to the fire about what she'd like to say to the rescuers of her colleagues, she simply would NOT even utter one syllable that could be taken as gratitude. I'm sure Neal will put the transcript, if not the audio, of the heated encounter (which ended in her hanging up the phone...how peaceful of her) on his website. You can check for yourself, but I'll be sure to let you know later if it ends up in Neal's Nuze.

I am angry beyond words! I so resent this. They spout about forgiving their "enemies". How about thanking their rescuers.
Send them back.
