It makes me humble and quite ashamed of myself when I read of the bravery and strength of faith exhibited by those who choose Christianity when it is the hardest thing to be. Much like the feelings I had watching Iraqis turn out to vote under the threat of death while Americans can't pull themselves away from their "stories" in the afternoon to make it to the polls...you appreciate so much more what you have when you realize the cost.
Michelle Malkin has a heart-stopping story of an Afghani man who converted to Christianity and now faces death...not for being a Christian as under the new democratic constitution, religious freedom is allowed, but rather for turning against Islam since Islamic law is still very strict. It will be interesting to see what supercedes what on a legal sense, but in the very human sense, this is so hard to see.
For his part, the man isn't backing down...I would like to think I'd have that much strength to rely on faith and trust in God.
This should also serve as yet another piece of evidence as to why Islamic fanatacism, sharia law and dhimmitude are not a path I wish to travel...ever.
