HOOAH!
From now through Veterans' Day, Project Valour-IT will be the main focus on MostCertainlyNot. Milbloggers all over cyberspace will be competing to rake in the dough for this important initiative focused on providing laptop computers and voice-activated software to hospitals where military veterans are recovering. Many times these heroes are far from family and friends for extended recovery periods and the internet provides the connection they need. For so many, though, voice-activated software and notebook computers are truly the only way to make that connection possible.
CPT Z at TCOverride was able to keep on bloggin' from his hospital bed when Soldiers' Angels and a faithful reader answered his need. He doesn't parse his words in describing what that meant to him:
"At that time I had no use of either hand. I know how humbling it is, how humiliating it feels. And I know how much better I felt, how amazingly more functional I felt, after Soldiers' Angels provided me with a laptop and a loyal reader provided me with the software. I can't wait to do the same, to give that feeling to another soldier at Walter Reed."
Blackfive serves as our Army team leader and provides all kind of information on becoming a part of the fundraising effort. Even if you don't classify yourself as a milblogger, you can participate by promoting this worthy cause on your blog & since I KNOW you'll want your efforts to boost the ARMY PRIDE, be sure to let Blackfive know you're on the TEAM!! If you are a blog reader & want to contribute, please do so through the "TO DONATE" button on Blackfive's site so the ARMY team receives credit for it. That button's code is in Blackfive's inbox & I'll update you when it's been inserted onto his blog.
The button is UP!!!! DONATE NOW!!
I've talked about Soldiers' Angels & my involvement with this wonderful organization in previous posts. I'm excited because one thing I haven't purchased for myself yet is a Soldiers' Angels coin and everyone who participates in this effort for Project Valour-IT will receive an SA coin.
Even if you don't have a blog, you can e-mail your friends & direct them on where to go and how to give. You can also download flyers to post at work, church, or at businesses you frequent. But, most importantly, if you haven't sent forth that $5 I encouraged you to give a week or so ago...this would be a wonderful way to send it. Donating via the internet is easy, it's secure, and you'll receive a receipt that will work for itemizing your deductions on your tax returns this year.
If, however, you are dead set against donating via the internet (Mom...this one's for YOU), you can contact me in comments or via e-mail about sending a check or money order to me & I'll be happy to make a donation in your name to this wonderful cause using my own PLASTIC! Or, to send in a donation via snail mail, you may use the following address:
Soldiers Angels
Valour-IT Fund
1792 East Washington Blvd.
Pasadena, CA 91104
Include your name, address, phone number and email address with the donation and if you have any questions about donating you can call (615) 676-0239.
I'll be updating & keeping you informed on the ARMY team progress. My money is officially where my mouth is...currently #2 in the standings. Come on! Somoene out-donate me!!

Well I have linked to Blackfive, I am just not sure if I did it right.

Looks like this is going to be lots of fun. You out-donated me. LOL...Going to have to see what we can do about that. Just kidding. At least we got the donations started.
